Princewill, from Nigeria, came and helped us celebrate Independence Day.

Madison County hosted their Centennial Celebration and a part of these festivities was the 4th of July parade. The Rexburg Rotary Club decorated a float and gathered donations to help the fight to end Polio. Our float, along with others cruised down Main Street with the members waving to all the families gathered to watch.

This year we were honored with a special guest  who came to help us celebrate the 4th of July.  Princewill, from Benin City, Nigeria, came to visit  Rotary clubs in District 5400, including Rexburg, to discuss Rotary's efforts to help Nigerian villages obtain clean water. At this point in time, Rotary has helped 28 villages. When he heard that we were participating in the parade, he was more than willing to help. Dressed in his traditional Nigerian clothing and accompanied by Darla, president of the Rexburg Rotary Club, waved to all the surrounding families.

He was excited to see the enthusiasm from those involved and those watching the floats go by. He especially enjoyed seeing the different groups on horseback. Princewill is planning to encourage Rotarians in his country to develop similar activities for their Independence day, October 2nd.

Princewill will honor the Rexburg Rotary club by reporting on the progress of the water and sanitation project on July 11, at Frontier Pies at 12-noon.  Guests are welcome!
